[A NGLO -AUSTRALIAN PKESS TELEGRAPH AGENCY.] Auckland, March 13. Arrived. — Keuilworth, from Samoa. She brings . the mate of the schooner; Enigma, wrecked on Gilbert's Group on 11th August. The crew were brought to Samoa by a German brig. Captain Clark and one of the crew were burned to death by the explosion of a kerosene lamp, the vessel being on fire about a month prior to the wreck. The Anazi case is continued. Alfred Scheffier and Charles Guthray, seamen, stated they were positive that Captain Holman was drunk on the night of the accident. Edward Farrell, a seaman, saw the captain strike at the mate and second mate with a knuckleduster. Farrell did not consider the captain properly drunk, because he did not lie down. He managed to keep his feet. Harold Wise, chief officer, said that after passing Tiritiri Lighthouse, they had a leading wind from the N.E, and the vessel bore S.E. The proper course should have been S. by E. The captain instructed him to heave 3 to for the night. Daniel Primrose stated that the captain was under the influence of liquor ducing the night of the accident. Patea, March 13. The sale of confiscated lands took place yesterday, aud was very successful. Christchukch, March 13. Messrs Royse Stead and Co. report whsat steady at 4s 9d ; oats are not offer- . ing ; barley, 4s 6d to 4s 9d ; butter, Is ; hams and bacon, B|d. Christchukch, March 13. At a large meeting of the District Grand Lodge of Freemasons •of the English Constitution, held last night, it was resolved to offer a scholarship for compet;on by sons of members of the order under twelve years, of age 5 also, that the Board of Education be requested that the examination take place at the same time, and under the same terms, as for the Provincial Scholarships.
