IMPORTS.

The following is the cargo of the Lizzie Guy, now on her way to this port from Lyttelton :— 30 sacks wheat, 140 bags flour, 219 sacks bran, 10 cases hams, 130 kegs butter, 104 cheese, 5 kegs, 5 casks cgus, 186 bags salt, 75 cacks grass seed, 15 cases bacon, 75 sacks malt, 80 bags oatmeal, 39 cases bacon, 40 kegs, 71 sacks oats. 25 do -wheat, 20 do bran, 200 do oats, 89 do wheat, 21 kegs.

There was a considerable fresh in the river on Saturday and yesterday, which had tho effect of clearing out tho bar. The river is rapidly subsiding. Tho p.s. Titan came up from Hokitika early on Saturday morning. The Waipara arrived from Hokitika on Saturday afternoon, and the Charles Edward, from kelson, via Hokitika, yesterday afternoon. The s s. Kilda still remains alongside the wharf, but "ill probably sail to-day The Government steamer Luna arrived off the bar at dusk last evening, and will probably enter on the first ti<ie to-day. She has several Government officials on board, and comes here to coal. The Luna comes round from Otago westward, having been engaged in surveying and fixing the sites of proposed new lighthouses. It is rumored that the New Zealand Shipping Company, and the agents of Saviile, and Co. have made arrangements by which the rates of freight form Lyttelton to London are increased from 45s to 555.
