Dctring the discussion upon the motion by Mr Wickes, that a sum of ,£l5O should be placed upon the Estimates towards the expenses incurred in the employment of Mr Moriarty, C.E., for the purpose of examining and reporting upon the Grey River and Harbor, some hon. member (Mr Todd, we believe), made the statement that Mr Moriarty's recommenof tnTioufceTior the wafe~supply q totinle city of Auckland, and the site of a graving dock, had, in each instance, been rejected. It is a pity that members of public bodies do not make themselves acquainted with the facts of cases, for if Mr Todd had taken any pains to ascertain the truth he would have found that so far from Mr Moriarty's recommendations having been declined, they have in both cases been endorsed. The City Council haa by a majority accepted the plan of Mr Moriarty as to the Water Supply for the city; and the Harbor Board has decided to adopt his site for the new dock.
