Mr Corbett has given notice of motion for the provision of LI 1,000 out of the proposed Loan Bill for the construction of reservoirs at No Town, for the supply of water for mining purposes, and that the Superintendent, communicate with the General Government, asking for the services of an officer to effect the survey of the Randall Creek race, to ascertain the cost- of construction, and the number of Government heads likely to be obtained, and that the engineer be requested to furnish a report as to the best plan for extinguishing the burning coal seam at the Ten-Mile Beach, Cobden. And that the Superintendent urge upon the General Government the necessity of completing the two first sections of the Hochsetter Water-race, to enable ground to be earlier worked. Mr Guinness's motion for responsible Government is certain to be negatived. Donne's motion of no confidence is ridiculed. A Bill to amend the Licensing Act has been introduced providing for a wholesale license for quantities not less than two gallons, L2O per annum. Mr Ives** moved an amendment that a wholesale license should permit the vender to sell a single bottle for the same fee. Reefton, Jan. 28. Excellent stone has been struck in Anderson's Company.
