We are happy to state that the opinions expressed a few days ago in our columns with regard to the late coal discoveries at the Ten-Mile are likely to be fully justified. We yesterday had the opportunity of inspecting samples from both the ten foot and fourteen foot seams which bad been packed here on horseback The quality of these specimens— which by the way were stated to us as having been taken promiscuously from the drives and which comprised large and small lumps and slack — is of the highest character, and whilst quite equal to any coal produced from the Brunner Mine, appears to be of a much more compact and concrete nature. We would recommend those who are interested in the development of the coal deposits of this district to call at the office of Messrs 'Moss and Co., and inspect the samples we have referred to. If, as there is every reason to believe, the seams from which the coal has been taken are of great extent, it is not difficult to predict a great and prosperous future for Greymouth.
