We are glad to be able to state that the action taken at the recent public meeting has already been productive of good results. Yesterday a telegram was received from the Minister of Public Works stating that fresh tenders for the construction of the Lake Hochstetter water-race would be called for in fortnight. We understand that considerable modifications are being made in the original plans and specifications, so as to bring the cost of the work within the limit of the amount voted.
