The schooner Gem, which has been off the port for some days, made her appearance yesterday. The tug Dispatch went put for, her, and towed her up to the wharf 'in the morning. She brings 138 tons of flour, consigned to D. Girdwood and Co. Part of her cargo is for Hokitika, but whether it will bo transhipped to the Waipara, or taken .down by tne schooner, is uncertain. He/r report says she left Adelaide on 26th December, and at first experienced only headwinds. After a few days, however, favorable breezes set in, and continued so until she made the Coast. •"' The s s. Alhambra arrived off the port shortly after five o'clock yesterday afternoon, ' and fired a gun to announce her arrival. The . Dispatch went out as soon, as the tide served, and transhipped 132 Chinamen, and some • six 'or. seven other passengers. The tug 'again' went out, after discharging her novel freight, for the : purpose of transhipping cargo.
