The action of the Phosphodyne is twofold— on the o_e hand increasing the principle which constitutes nervous energy, and on the other the most powerful blood and flesh generating agent known ; therefore a niarvellous medicine for renovating impaired and broken down constitutions. It quickly improves th«> function of assimilation to such a degree, that where for years an emaciated, anxious, cadaverous, *nd semi-vital condition has existed, the flesh will rapidly increase in quantity and 'irnrnesß. and the whole system return to a state of robust health. The Phosphodyne acts electrically upon •he organisation ; for instance, it assists nature to generate that human electricity which i-enews and rebuilds the osseous, muscular, lervous, membranous, and organic systems, ft operates on the system without excitini;are or thought upon the individual as to nhe process It moves the lungs,, liver, heart, kidneys, stomach, and intestines, with a harmony, vigor, yet mildness, unparalleled in medicine. The Phosphodyne gives back to the human itructure, in a suitable form, the phosphoric •r animating element of life, which has been waited, and exerts an important influence tirectly on the spinal marrow and nervous system, of a nutritive, tonic; and invigorating character; maintaining that buoyant energy of the brain and muscular system which renders the mind cheerful, brilliant, and energetic, entirely overcoming that dull, inactive, and sluggish disposition which many persons experience in all , their actions. The beneficial effects of the Phosphodyne are frequently shown from the first day of it* administration, by a remarkable increas of nervous power, with a feeling of vigor and comfort to which the patient has long been unaccustomed. Digestion is improved, tne appetite increases wonderfully, the bowels become regular, the eyes brighter, the akin clear and healthy, and the hair acquires strength, showing the importance of the action of the Phosphodyne on the orgins of nutrition. Finally, the Phosphodyne maintains a certain degree of activity in the previously debiliated nervous system ; its use enables all debilitated organs to return to their sound, state and perform their natural functions. Sir Charles Locock, Physical Accoucheur to Her Majesty the t^ueen, stated at a meeting of the Royal Medical aud ChirurgicaSociety, that in thirteen cases of debility and nervous prostration he had effected per> manent cures by the use of Dr. Bright's Phosphodyne Sir Wm. Ferguson, Bart., F.RS,, Surgeon to Her Majesty the Queen, says— "l have repeatedly prescribed Dr. Bright's Phosphoflyne and found it an agreeable and beneficial remedy. I have but one objection regarding it, and that is. the elaborate process required in the preparation will not allow of the retail price being within the reach of all classes.' Dr Lancaster, the Eminent Coroner, says — " Dr Bright's Phosphodyne is calculated to entirely supersede iron, mercury, sarsaparilla, quinine, and cod liver oil." Dr K. Quain, F.R.C.P., Physician to the Hospital for Consumption, Brompton, remarks— "lt cannot be doubted that this Phosphatic preparation will henceforth rank 1 foremost iv therapeutics ; it generates all the important elements of the human frame; the peculiar character of this substance fitting ie fo. v vital uses." Sir T Laurence says— "l have found Dr. Bright's Phob'oho-Iyne an excellent remedy in skin diseases* I presume it is by oxyilisation," Professor Symesays—" The effects of the Phosphodyne in obstinate cases of disease are as astonishing as perplexing.'' Dr Handfield Jones, P.R.C.b., P.R.S., Physician to St. Mary's Hospital, jays in Atrophy and General Debility, Phosphodyne is a most admirable remedy ; it invigorates the nutritive functions and increases the Vital Knergy— *'it not only acts as an absorbent," but retards or repairs che waste of tissue, and restores the Nutritive Func tions to their normal condition. The •• Lancet" considers the Phonphodyne one of the most important contributions made to Materia Medica, during the last century.
