WEALTH OF NATIONS GOLDMINING COMPANY.

A meeting of the shareholders jof the Wealth of Natipns Gold-mining Company was held at the Masonic flail on Monday evening— Mr E. Wickes in the j chair. The meeting was called for the purpose of arranging to borrow money to pay off the mortgage held upon the claim arid ma? chinery of the Company. This matter was arranged without difficulty, in consequence of the recent increased yield? from the claim. There was a large number of shareholders present. Several of the rules were altered. ' 1

The mining manager gave in the following report for the month ending! 24th. October :-^- „; ,■'.. • " The amount of stone broken out and sent to the mill for the : past month fe 658 tons, 400 tons of which has been broken from the surface outcrops of the west and middle reefs, and 258 tons from the 80ft level on the west reef.. , The amount of gold obtained and forwarded to Greymouth for the month is 623'0z 2dwt.i " The average number of > hands employed on the mine and tramway has| been 24, nine being employed on the surface, including blacksmith, . carpenter, | and brakesman, nine men underground In the 80ft level, three men engaged in putting through a rise from the lower level to surface, two men preparing timber!, and one trucker. : : , " The appearance of the stone, both on the surface and underground, is fully as good, both a3 to quantity and quality,.. as at the beginning of ihe month. '• ' i " The machinery continues in excellent working order, but it will be necessary to repair, the tramway and renew a portion of the rails, also to make seme ■ alteration and repairs to. the lower receiving^paddock, and this will cause a stoppage for two or three days. ••■' ' "1 have taken the level and commenced to form the approaches for a new tunnel ai .180 ft below our present workings,' and tenders will be called for driving the same at once. .'■"■; "R. E. GULLINE, ; ' " Mining Manager." The report gave general satisfaction. The next business was the increase of the Directory from five to seven members. Five names were proposed j and the;vqtewas taken by ballot, with the following result :— Mr Campbell 583 votes,' Mr Wilson 497, Mr Gleesnn 350, Mr Glenn 331, and Mr Taylor 306. The first two were declared elected. The mining manager, Mr Gulline, resigned his office of direptdr, and Mr Mathias was elected in his stead. The meeting then adjourned.

The attendance at the meeting represented 4339 shares, arid shareholders present held proxies for 1367 shares. '■''- Out of . a total of 6500 shares, there were thus. represented 5706.
