The s.s. Kennedy returned on Sunday from Hokitika for coal, and left on her usual northern trip last night. The brijj Sarah is now cleared out at the Customs for Melbourne, and ready for sea. The s.s. Tararua, Captain Haglcy, arrived In the roadstead vesterdsy afternoon from Melbourne. She discharged her inward passengers and cargo into the p.s. Persevere and pas3ed on to Nelson, without wailing for outward passengers. The tender brought the passengers ashore at 7 p.m. The Tararua's report states that she left Williamstown Pier at 5 p.m. on the llth; cleared the Heads at 7.35 p m. with fresh easterly winds ; passed Sisters' Island at 2.30 p.m. on the 12th ; the two following days experienced a very heavy northerly swell and light winds ; from thence to arrival at Hokitika had a splendid southerly breeze, and arrived at 8.30 p.m. on Sunday, coming on here as above. Fassed the s.s. Omeo off Sisters' Island at 2.30 p.ir.. on the 12tb. , Some smart work was done yesterday in discharging the cargo of the brig Magne*-, With the exception of a small portion whfrh was lightered by the p.s. Dispiiteh, the whole of her large cargo of 250 tons was put ashore yesterday before 4 p.m, by the aid of the steam engine. She has since taken in a cargo of coal and will sail this morning for Melbourne direct. She has ample accommodation for a number of passengers. The Aborigine was the only vpssel on the -berth for .this port when the Tararua frit Melbourne;
