YESTERDAY'S ELECTION.
(To the Editor of the Grey River Argus. J The election is over, and I am satisfied that nine good men and true have been returned ; but 1 beg leave to take exception to the observations of the Returning Officer, Mr Revel], in giving his casting vote in favor of Mr Joseph Kilgour. He stated as his reason for so doing, that as the Government Township had most candidates returned, he should give his casting vote to Mr Joseph Kilgour, inferring by those remarks that my interest or residence was in the Government township. Now, it so happens that the Nonpariel Pie House and the Greymouth Dispensary are both my property, and are only five doors from Mr Kilgour, and my private residence is situated also in the Maori Township, and how the Returning Officer can reconcile his remarks with the above facts I leave your readers to judge. Yours respectfully, John Heron.
