Tho B.s. Alhainbra arrived at Hokitika early yesterday morning from Nelson, and would bo there tendered in th.o forenoon. Sho will consequently bo off this port this morninpr, when she will ship gold and passengers for Melbourne, and forward passengers for Sydney and Queensland. The Panama Company's s.B. Otagomaybe expected off tho bar to-day, if not prevented by the weather, and wilt be immediately despatched for Melbourne direct, and wiil also take passengers for tho Queensland Gold^ Fields, The 8.8. Murray, from Nelson, arrived irii tho river at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sho left Nelson on the previous Tuesday, at 4 a.m., and arrived atWanganui next day at 6 p.m., where sho landed (ivo passengers and a quantity of cargo. Hero sho shipped a cargo of produce and sheep. Loft on Sunday luonuig, and had a veiy narrow escape in crossing tho bar. Thero was a heavy sea running at tho time, which several times lin ret over the vessel, burying her in water ; but the Murray rose to it in lino style, and after a severe struggle managed to get out to sea. Some deck cargo was washed overboard, but the sheep were kept safe She arrived at the Duller on Monday morning, at 10 o'clock, left again tho same night, called off Fox's, but found the sea too heavy to permit of landing cargo, and pushed on for this port, where she arrived next morning, leaving agaiu in the evening for Westport. We Icarn that this is the last trip of tho Murray to tho coast previous to being sent to Wellington for a complete overhaul. The B.s. John Perm, Capt. Carey, arrived on Tuesday, at mid-day, from Kelson via Hokitika. Sho left Nelson at midnight on the 14th instant, nnd arrived at Westport at 7 a.m. on tho 10th, having experienced stormy S.W. winds and sea on the coast. The severe weather rompolled her to remain there until Sunday when she left, with about 50 passengers and 5000 oz. of gold for Uokitika. Sho left for Wcatport, l^elson, and Manukau on Tuesday night. The Jane Elkin, five weeks out from Dnncdin to this port, is repoited by the Murray to have been lying at Wanganui when she Ijft. Messrs N. Edw.rds and Co.'s two lino steamers the Kennedy and Nelson arrived yesterday, the former from Nelson via Wtstport and Hokitika, and the latter from
Waiganiii viaWcstpori. At the Buller, the Kenuedy transhipped a large cargo for this port from the s.s. Beautiful Star, which she partially landed yesterday. The ketch Ellin, Captain Champion, w a towed into the river yesterday at noroi by the p.s. Dispatch. Sho has made a long trip of over three weeks from Ljttelton, owing the very heavy weather she encountered during the voyage. She brings a large cargo of produce, &c, for her owner. Mr W.
