The Timaru Herald states that on Saturday afternoon last, as Mr Robert Smith, farmer, of the Waihi, was returning home on horseback, after attending Mr Hayhurst's sale, at Temuka, he was thrown from his horse, and received such severe injuries that he died the following morning.
