Melbourne. — Tho Aryu*, of the Gth instant, reports as follows : — A fair amount of business has been transacted in tho import markets to-day. Numerous arrivals of overdue vessels from England are reported, and it is expected that a considerable impetus will be imparted to trade generally in consequence. The market for breadstuff's is unaltered, and sales only on a very moderate scale continue to be effected. The low price ruling for oats begins to attract notice.' "Holders of Californian ask 3s ; there are, however, no buyers at this figure to be met with as yet. The demand for Patna rice is well sustained ; we hear of some oighty tons having been placed at L 27 10s, and some very heavy transactions are pending. ■In teas :i large business is done. For trade purposes half-chests', in lines of 200, havo been placed at prices rising from Is Sd to Is 0d for good medium congous ; a line of 500 chests has also been taken up, for export, of medium to finer qualities, at up to Is lOil in bond. -The auction sale of a portion of the Princess of Wales' and Dannevlrke's teas resulted in the disposal of 618 packages of congous, at from Is 9f d to 2s ljd in bond. By public sale, some 3100 bags of Mauritius sugar, comprising the balance of various cargoes, found buyers at prices tlie turn easier, llations were sold at 245, low counters realised 32s 3d to 33s Gd, middling counters 34s 3d to 34s (3d, and good counters 3os 0d to 37s Gd ; for middling white crystals 42s was paid. A considerable parcel of Tasman ian hops was placed at about 2s Gd, and a prime sample of lS(if> growth was quitted at Is lOd. An invoice of American chairs, comprising 330 packages, was sold, for export, at equal to twenty per cent, advance, duty paid. Kerosene oil still attracts attention. We learn of a shipment of SOO cases, second brand, having changed hands afloat at os Sd iii bond. In liquids, we aro informed of several parcels of Hennessy's case brandy having been placed at up to 26s Gd. Trade parcels of Hennessy's bulk brandy — pale, in quarters — have brought Gs 9d ; and a parcel 01 Central Vineyard brandy, pale, in similar packages, was disposed of at 4s (3d. Sales of rum are mentioned at 3s 3d for ten percent, o.p.' Some eighty quarters of Kouglitou's three and four diamond port have mot with buyers, at prices rising to L 54, according to quality. Adelaide. — The fteyidcr, of the Ist inst., has the following remarks as to the yield of the harvest . — The publishing by the Government of the agricultural statistics have had an improving effect upon the prices both of wheat and flour. It was generally anticipated that the average would have been higher, and that there would be 20,000 tons more available for export than row turns out to be the case. Flour — There has been considerable enquiry, and several hundred tons have changed hands at prices varying from L' 9 12s Gd to LlO JOs per ton.' IVday there are buyers at LlO 10s to LI. I per ton for good brands, "out the leading millers are asking" LI 1 10s to Ll2 per ton. ' Wheat— Tliere is absolutely none offering.
