Mails close for the following places as under (subject to the necessary alterations) : THURSDAY, DECEMBER 21. For Otago, per Hawea, at 11.30 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.40 a.m.; guard’s van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Northern ports and Australian Colo nies via Sydney, per Ringarooma, at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard van, 2.40 p.m. train. FRIDAY, DECEMBER 22. For Capo Town, per barque Thurso (for specially addressed correspondence only), at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Kaikoura, per Wakatu, at 3.20 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.30 p.m.; guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 23. For Chatham Islands, per Island Lily, at 11.30 a.m.; late fee letters at 11.40 a.m.; guard’s van, 12.10 xnm. train. Notice.— On Monday next (Christmas Day) all branches of this Department will be closed. Mails usually despatched on Monday will be closed on Saturday, 23rd instant, at 8 p.m. The office will be open for delivery of letters on Saturday evening, 23rd instant, from 8.30 to 9.30 p.m. Sunday hours will be observed in the private box lobby on Christmas day.
