CRICKET.
A well attended meeting of the St-effield Cricket Club wa3 held at Mr Flanagan's Hotel on Saturday night, Mr John Broa-n in the chair. It was rssolved to forra the club on a new and better basis, the subscription to be 10s per annum. The following gentlemen were elected as office-bearers and committee for the current sesson :—President, Mr David McMillan, M.H.B. j vice-presidsnt, Mr Flanagan ; captain, Mr George Butberford ; deputy, Mr George Land; seotetary and treasurer, Mr G. A. K>ya; committee, Messrs Brown, sen., jun., Jebaon, Land and Lavien. The treasurer was instructed to purchase any material required. It is tb.6 intention of several strong sapporters of the club to get up a fancy dress ball on the 11 %h October in aid of the crioket ground fund he:e, and the attempt bids fair to be a groat eueccss, as several influential gentlemen are taking the matter iu hand very warmly, and two ladies offer their services gratuitously to supply the necessary music for the ball.
The annual meetirg of the Sefton Cricket Club was held in Balcalrn schoolroom on Saturday evening, the 16th iast. Present— O. Ensor, Esq., president, in the chair, and Messrs Fendal, Fen ton (secretary), Stuart, Mathi*s, Fanton, Husband, Baird, Matter Fenton p.nd Thompson. Xbe ohairman urged tho necessity at removing the head-quarters) o£ the club to Hilton, us most of the orioki'.tors a.t Balo.utn had left the district. It wrb proposed by Mr Baird that tlie olub break tip. Xhia motion tisb withdrawn after the chairman's remarks. It waa resolved, on the motion of Mr Thompson—" Thtt the club be moved to Sefton." The chaixu&n offered tho club the usa of his paddock, and stated that a cum would soon be expended by the Domain Board in purchasing a piece of ground at Ssffon, which would be available for tho use of the club. Tho following officers were unanimously elected for the ensuing season : —O. Ensor, Esq., president} Messrs Fenton and Ms.th.iis, vice presidents j Mr Thompson, secretary and treasurer; Mr Stuart, captain ; and Mr J. Baird, custcdinn. Votes of thanks were unanimously passed to the retiring officer*; to Mr Evans for the oare and expense of laying out the ground, and to Mr Ensor for his encouragement, whioh waa the means of holding the club together.
