The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £11,200,000, ( being £200,000 above the reserve of last j week. t At to-day's wool sale a fair demand > was experienced. The catalogue com- * prised 10,800 bales; 18,250 bales have \ been withdrawn from sale since the open- ] ing of the series. - September 15. ' At to day's wool anetioD, 11,000 bales \ were catalogued. The market was ] steady, but the demand was not active, i Scoured wools are dull. J Consols have advanced \, and are ' again at par. New Zealand securities , are unchanged at last quotations, viz.: — i Five per Cent. 10.40 Loan, 105£, ex div.; i Five per Cent. 1889 Loan, 106£; Four- ' and-a-half per Cent. 1879-1904 Loan, 101 i. Colonial breadstuffs have suffered a decline of one shilling per quarter. To-day's quotations are—Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 475; New Zealand, 45s to 475. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 345. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 2,130,000 quarters, or 40,000 more than at this time last week. Australian tallow continues firm at 45s 6d for best beef, and 46s 6d for best mutton. Best Sydney copra has advanced 10s, to £l9 per ton. ["ARGTXS" SPECIAL.] [Received 2.25 p.m., September 18.] LONDON, September 16, 11.25 p.m. At the wool sales 223,000 bales were catalogued, and 20,000 bales were withdrawn. Good combing was firmer, but short faulty wool was Id lower. Clean crosssbred $d higher; clothing easier. The sales close on October 3rd. The Anstralis cargo of frozen meat has 1 been cleared at an average of 6£d fte - lb; \ some of it was sold to-day for 7£d. ["Agb" Spboiae.] ; [Received September 17, 6 p.m.] LONDON, September 14.
