STANMORE ELECTION.
The polling for the election of a representative of the above district in the General Assembly took place yesterday, and the friends of each of the candidates worked heartily on their behalf. At five minutes past eight the numbers polled for each candidate were ascertained to be os under:—
Majority for Filliet, 124. Mr G. L. Dee was the Botarniug Officer Stanmore; his deputies at Knightatown ■d Phillips town being Messrs W. F. Beatson ■cl F. Jones.
Fourteen informal votes were _ recorded, viz., five at Stanmore, three at Knightstown. and six at Fhillipitown. From about half-past six an orderly crowd commenced to gather around the central polling place anxious to learn the result, which was received with uproarious cheerios. The poll will bo officially declared at 10 a.m. on Friday next at the Stanmore roai school house.
