The City Council office was robbed last night. Tho treasurer's safe was opened, and £2O in gold and notes taken. A cash-box with chfques amounting to £3l was found in the adjoining yard. The office was lsckod by the treasurer, Mr Brodie, at 11 p.m., who left in company with the oity auditors, Messrs T. R. White and Fraser. The office doors were found open by the messenger this morning. The gas was lit, but turned low. The treasurer's duplicate key had been loft iu the office, and the thief found it.
