Norfolk IslandBishop Selwyn has completed the erection of the mission church at Norfolk Island. The mission schooner Southern Cross leaves Auckland on the 23rd with the Bishop of Walpu, Archdeacon Mansell, and a number of Auckland clergymen to assist at the opening services. Cultivation of Vines. The French vignerons at Dargaville,Kaipara are energetically engaged in preparing vineyards. It is rumored that Mr Dargaville, who is interested in the enterprise, visits Australia to select the best kind of vines for planting in this province. DUNEDIN, November 16, Trade with America. A letter has been forwarded fay the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, through Mr H. Driver, American Consul, to the Secretary of State at Washington, asking for a reduction of the excessive duties levied on New Zealand wool. Wesleyan District Meeting. The Wesleyan district meeting opened today. The Bev. J. Camp was appointed chairman, and the Bev. B. S. Binney secretary.
