SHEFFIELD AND WADDINGTON SPORTS.
A public meeting was held at Flanagan's Hotel, Sheffield, on Saturday, the sth iwt., to elect a sports committee, and to arrange for the ensuing Now Year’s sports. Mr Fraser was elected chairman of the meeting, and eventually of the sports committee, to which seventeen new members were added. It was resolved that Mr D. McMillan bo requested to act as President of the sports committee. Messrs Lord and Fianugan were respectively elected ns secretary and treasurer. It was proposed and seconded “That Mr Jas Mcllraith be requested to allow the use of his paddocks, formerly occupied by Mr T. MoKio, for tho sports on New Year’s Day.” It was resolved—“ That Messrs Austen and Blythen be asked to canvass the Sheffield and Waddington districts for subscriptions, and that subscription lists be sent to Kowai Pass and tho neighboring districts.” It was determined—“ That the majority of events should be left open to all comers.” Proposed by Mr Blythen, and seconded by Mr Brown—“ That Mr F.anagan be allowed the privilege of a refreshment booth on the ground.” After the usual vote of thanks to the chairman, tho meeting adjourned.
