THE FORESTERS.

The sixteenth annual meeting of the Canterbury United District Court, Ancient Order of Foresters, was held in the Foresters’ Hall, Oxford terrace, at seven o’clock on Thursday evening—Officers present—D.O.R. Bro. Phipps (in the chair), D.B.C.R. Bro. Weastell, D T. Bro. Crook?, D 3. Bro. W. Ness, Beadle Bra. Mummery. The delegates in attendance were —Court 2309, P.C.R.’s Bro?. Williams and Watts ; Court 2703, P.D O.R.’s Bros. Wilcox and Weybourne, Court 6031, P.X. Bro. Marley ; Court Ashburton, P.C.R. Bro. Hall ; Court 6033, apology ; Court 6032, P.C.R. Bro. Bailey. The D.O.R. having opened the Court in duo form, The Secretary read the minutes of the last half-yearly meeting, which were confirmed. The auditors reported that they had examined all books, vouchers, and scrip, and found all correct. The Secretary presented the balance-sheet and read minutes of special meetings, which were received and adopted. The D. Secretary reported that the sum of £IOO had been inveated in the Permanent Investment and Loan Arsooiation, and also that the juvenile regalia had been presented to the Juvenile Court officers.

The following members were elected as the district officers for the ensuing year : —DOR., Bro. Weastell; D.S.C.R., Bro. Jas. Gapes, sen.; D.T., Bro. H. Crooks ; D.S., Bro. Thos. Gapes ; D. Beadle, Bro. Mummery. P.D.O.R. Phipps was presented with a P.D.C.R.’s neck ribbon, and it was resolved that his name should bo placed on the respect board.

It was resolved that P.D 3. Ness be presented with a medal in recognition of past valuable services rendered. The medal to be suitably engraved and presented at the next district meeting. An honorarium of £2 2s was presented to the Hon. D. Treasurer, Bro. Crookes, for his services, and an honorarium of £5 5s was voted to P.C.R. J. S. Williams for compiling by-laws. Resolved —“ That a vote of thanks bo recorded on the minutes to the past officers for their services during the year.” Various accounts were passed for payment, and the D.O.R. closed the Court- in due form.
