The Coromandel was berthed yesterday insido the Arethusn, at the Gladstone Pier, and will commence to put out her cargo from Glasgow to-day. A Bill to make better provi-ion for the collection of wharfage and tonnage rates has (says the Melbourne " Telegraph ") been introduced in the Legislative Assemblv in New South "Wales by Mr Jas. Watson. The Bill will graduate the wharfage rates according to the weight or measurement or the package.' upon a scale of charges for articles enumerated in the second schedule ; but goods belonging to the Government and passengers luggage are to be exempt from payment. Outwards wharfago rates are not to exceed one-half the amount of rates inwards. Vessels under 240 tons register arc to pay a wharfage rate of 10s a day as long as they occupy a berth at any public or private sufferance wharf It is to bo lawful to levy a rate of O}U per ton on vessels fully laden, and o*d per ton per diem on vessels partly laden, during tho time they occupy a berth at a wharf discharging inward cargo Vessels of 210 tons and upwards loading outwards are to pay OJd per ton per diem during the time they occupy a berth, and OJd per ton for any period beyond thirty-flve days. The Government may let tho rates by public auction or otherwise, the lessee boing responsible for the conduct of tho collectors. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Oamarit, May 2.
