The Union Company’s steamers Tanpo and Hawea, arrived at noon to-day. The Tanpo leaves for Auckland via Wellington and East Coast ports tonight. The steamer Star of the South, Capt. Bayldon, arrived yesterday morning at seven o’clock from Dunedin, whence she loft at 1 p.m. on Thursday last. She brought passengers and 10 tons of freight for Lyttelton, after discharging which she sailed for Wellington, Westport and Greymouth at five o’clock last evening, with eleven passengers and 25 tons cargo. The s.s. Tni left Boat Harbour at 7 p.m. on Thursday, arriving yesterday morning at three o’clock. She put ont 166 bales wool, received ten tons general merchandise as per export memoranda, and sailed at six o’clock last evening for Kaikoura and Wellington Yesterday the brig Vision was berthed at the Steamer’s wharf, also the barqueutine Ebouezer. The last-named vessel had to he moved off again later in the day to admit the steamer Wallahi, and consequently was prevented discharging much of her cargo of sugar. AEEIVAL OF THE NEW ZEALAND SHIPPING CO UPANY’S SHIP WAIKATO, WITH IMMIGRANTS, FROM LONDON. At eight o’clock this morning the ship Waikato, Captain Worster.with immigrants was signalled off the Heads, and shortly after eleven o’clock she anchored off the quarantine island. The Immigration Officer, Mr March, went off to her at noon accompanied by the Health Officer, and the Press representatives would probably he admitted this afternoon. She has on hoard ten saloon passengers, named in notice of arrival above, and 300 Government immigrants. From telegraphic advices before published in this paper of the vessel’s departure from Plymouth it appears that Captain Worster has been but 78 days ont, thus making one of the quickest passages on record.
