BOWLING MATCH.
CHRISTCHURCH V. DUNEDIN, This match took place yesterday on the bowling green of the Christchurch Club, in Worcester street, between sixteen players of Christchurch and sixteen from Dunedin. Christchurch was represented by Messrs Rose, C. Cuff, Cunningham, Menzies, Williams, Haskell, Peacock, Thomson, Blakiston, Walker, Pavitt, Garrick, Bird, Wood, Carnow, and Robinson. The Dunedin champions were Messrs Austin, Scoular, Buttcrworth, Callender, Sinclair, Wright, McNeill, McDirmid, Wilson, Baxter, Thomson, Stewart, Scoular, Morrison, Reeves, and Morris. The day was delightfully fine, and the ground in splendid order, the recent rain having had a moat beneficial effect in improving it for the occasion.
In spite of the practice of the previous day, the playing of the Christchurch men was very indifferent, the fact being that they were completely overmatched by their opponents. A considerable amount of practice obviously is necessary if on any future occasion they expect to reverse the defeat they sustained.
