POST OFFICE NOTICES
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8. For Otago and Australian Colonics, per Walcatipu, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; late letter box, guard’s van, 2 -10 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Ladybird, at 3.15 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.35 p.m.; late letter-box, guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. For Kaikoura and Wellington, per Tui, at 4,45 p.m.; late letter box, guard’s van, must not bo used for Tui’s mails. THURSDAY, JANUARY 9. For Northern ports, per Arawata. SATURDAY, JANUARY 11. For the Chatham Islands, per Omaha, at 11 a.m. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Southampton and Brindisi, will close at this office on January 15th, The mail via Southampton will bo duo in London on March 17th, and tho mail via Brindisi on March 10th, 1879, The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will close at this office on January 31st, and will be due in Loudon on March 18th.
