There was a very crowded attendance of both home and foreign buyers, the French trade being fully represented, and competition was very animated, especial y for combing wools, stocks of which on the Continent must bo very light, and wool of this character brought full November and December rates. Long stapled and half-bred wool , both washed and greasy, were also in good demand, indeed only Capes and parcels of clothing and faulty wools went occasionally in favor of buyers. Considerable briskness was also exhibited at last night's sale, and full prices were obtained. Trade in the North is fairly active, and stocks are considerably reduced. -16,034 bales have arrived for the May sales. WHEAT AND FLOUR. There has been no alteration iu I he wheat market dnriug the Inst fortnight, aud trade remains dull, for in tho present unsettled state of affairs holders are not willing to force sales, and buyers will not operate to any large extent except at lower prices, as heavy shipments are now being made from Odessa, and upon the reopening of navigation largo supplies will be available for export from other ports iu the Black Sea. Stores of wheat in the United States are still also considerable. Our own crop looks well, and favorable advices have been recei ed from India and America. Supplies on passage to tho United Kingdom avo e.->timated at 1,209,250 qrs. Business in Australian wheat is dull; 57s is asked for cargoes on passago, and 56s for forward shipment, with buyers at Is less. Wo quote ex store —Australian wheat, 61s to 61s ; New Zea' laud, 50s to 555; and sprouted, 36s to -18 s, per 4PO lbs. - uscralian flour, 37s to 455; New Zealand, 29s to 31s ] er 280 lbs. TALLOW AND HIDES. Owing to the small stocks of tallow heretbe sales, since our last report, have been rather limited, and prices have advanced about 3d per cwt., tho value to-day of good to line New Zealand mutton being 40s 6d to 425. aud beef tallow j 38s 9d to 39s 9d por cwt., and middling and inferior sorts at comparative rates. The late arrivals have augmented the stock, which is now about 2-00 casks. Hides continue dull of sale, aud present quotations are—for best heavy ox. 4Jd to Sod; and ox aud cow hides, 4Jd to 4sd per lb. PRESERVED MEAT. The Government demand for tinned beef aud mutton has given an impetus to the trade. Largo sales have been made, aud prices- are firm ; but no marked increase is yet disoern le.
