The barque Sea Shell arrived at Oamaru on August 4th, from Hobart Town, after a passage of 11 days. The brigantine Circe sailed from Hokitika for this port on August 3rd, timber laden. The schooner Janet Grey left Hokitika on August 4th for this port with a cargo of 23,000 ft timber. The Lizzie Guy sailed same day for Timaru. , „ The schooner Cleopatra sailed from Greymouth for Timaru on August 2nd timber laden. The s.s. Taupo left for Port Chalmers at 3 p.m. yesterday, , . , , _ The Sarah and Mary ketch arrived at Greymouth on Saturday last, and the Alert schooner at Hokitika on the same day from Lyttelton. The Emerald ketch, Captain Whitby, arrived in port on Sunday evening trom Havelock, with a oaro-oof timber. She had a line run from off Wellington of 18 hours. We observe the Emerald will be laid on to load for Greymouth on discharge of her cargo. , The new barque Cabar Feidh arrived from Newcastle yesterday afternoon. She is a fine vessel and no doubt wil Iprove a great acquisition to our colonial fleet. The Cabar Feidh is a wooden barque, Quebec built, and is the property of Capt D. H. M’Kenzie of Auckland. After coming out to Auckland from Boston, the vessel was sent to Newcastle and has returned to this port with a cargo of coals. Immediately after discharging she will load with produce, principally grain, for Auckland, for Messrs P. Cunningham and Co, The captain reports that he left Newcastle on July 22nd, and had southerly and north-easterly weather to Cape Farewell, which was sighted on August 2nd. Had strong S.E. gale to Cook’s straits; passed Cape Campbell at 9 p.m, on Sunday, and arrived at the Heads at 2 p,m. yesterday, anchoring off" the breakwater at 3 p.m. Experienced fresh N.E. breeze from Cape Campbell to arrival. The Mary Ann Annison, a regular trader between this port and Newcastle, arrived in harbor at 10 p.m. on Sunday evening. Captain Hughes reports leaving Newcastle on July2ist; strong southerly winds were experienced for first three days, then Strong N.E. gale which lasted till July 28tb, when in lat 43-30 ; the wind suddenly shifted round to the southward, the ship having to run before the gale lor twenty-four hours ; made Cape Campbell on August 2nd; passed through the straits with light S.E. winds which lasted for three days; rounded Cape Campbell last Saturday at midnight, from thence fresh N.E. winds, till arrival. Reports sighting the Augusta schooner bound from Napier for Hokitika last Friday in the straits. The Annison brings a cargo of 505 tons coal and a few cases of oranges, consigned to Messrs Langdown and Forbes.
