When the work was suspended in 1867, the instalments remaining due ceased to be collected. So long a period having elapsed since the promises were originally made, it has been thought right to obtain the sanction of each subscriber to his name being put down for the unpaid balance of his subscription. Several persons, including some whose names do not appear in this list, and others who are entered for a second subscription, paid their original subscriptions in full prior to 1867.
