New York, May noth. M. Rochefort has arrived at New York. He declined a public reception, but published a letter justifying the burning of the buildings and the executions in the Paris Commune. He describes his sufferings in New Caledonia, and denounces MacMahou. London, June 2. On Saturday, on the occasion of the celebration of the Queen’s Birthday, Earl Carnarvon entertained the colonial representatives at a State banquet. The Duke of Edinburgh was present. All the Australian securities are very firm. The balance of the New Zealand Loan has been taken at 98. Rome, June 4. The Pope has had a relapse, with loss of appetite, aud is suffering strong fever. His physicians arc now alarmed. Paris, Juno 4. The Assembly is discussing concurrently the municipal aud electoral bills, which will have the effect of disfranchising three million voters. Berlin, June 3. The German press ridicule the idea of the candidature of a Prussian Prince to the Spanish throne. Rome, June 5. The Pope is better, and his doctors advise a change of air, but his holiness refuses to leave the Vatican. London, June 4. The bank rate is reduced to three per cent. June 6. The money market is easy. Corn is unchanged. At the wool sales the competition continues vigorous, aud prices are very firm. Altogether twenty-four thousand bales sold.
