NEED FOR SLOW BOWLER
(Press Association ) CHRISTCHURCH, March 23. N. Gall’chan, the Manawatu and Wellington representative left-hand slow bowler, has been added to the New Zealand team which will leave for its; tour of England next Saturday. The addition, of this player to the 14 men already chosen was made by the management committee of 1 the New Zealand Cricket | Council with the concurrence of the New Zealand selector si on the recommendation of the manager-captain and the vice-cap tain of the New Zealand team. ‘ The announcement was made by Mr A. T. Donnelly, chairman of the management committee of the council. who. said that, in the afternoon, a telegram had been received from M. L. Page, captain, H. G. Vivian, vice-captain, and T. C. Lowry, manager, all of whom had had great experience of English cricket conditions, reading us follows;-*.-
“Wo are unanimously of the op- | inion that the team a,s at present ! constituted is definitely short of slow bowlhig, for such a long tour and avo suggest the inclusion of Gallicban as an additional man if possible: Page, Vivian, and Lowry”. j
