Commander Thorcux, captain of the Normandie,'which is finishing its first voyage from New York after a two months’ overhaul for the fitting of four-bladed propellers, has wirelessed that • she completed the passage from Ambrose L'ght to Bishop Rock. Stilly Isles, the official course for the Atlantic blue riband of 2978 miles, in’four days Glirs. 23sce., averaging 80.99 knots. Her voyage is claimed a s a. record in that it heat that of the Queen Mary last year, when she covered the shorter course- of 270 S miles in 3 days 23 'hours dSmin., averaging 30.03 knots. An official of the French line emphasises that the record has been made in midwinter and that the •Normandie during l the List two days has been driving against strong head winds. The new propellers are made of very light- alloy, each weighing three tons less than the old ones.
