Coming to the third set with a load, Vltiir played confidently, but Kay was a dour opponent and forced many of the game.? to device. Muir bad tho luck with drives jiust trickling over the top of the net, after sustained rallies. With the set ending 6 —2 in Muir’s favour, he took thei match, it being unnecessary to play the last two of five scheduled sets. It was an excellent match. A. Shone (receive 25), a first-year player, did remarkably well to beat M. Krebs (roc. 15) in the men’s handicap singles. Tho men’s handicap doubles was won by Thompson and Muir (owe 24) from Mills and Shone (owe 15). After tho two teams had worked off their handicaps in the early stages of the game, the match was a remarkably’ even one. Thompson and Ewen u r re last year’s winners. The men’s junior singles championship was retained by J. Thompson, who defeated A. Shone in a olase; final. Tho combined doubles title went to Mills and Mrs Hoeney, who defeated Thom and Mrs Thom in the final.
