DOC TRIALS

great success at waimata VALLEY

(Special to the Times.) The annual trials were commenced „n Thursday at Otonga rtri,on fed wore continued m beautiful no.ther on Saturday. Mr/- Walcott, cl Rototahi. ws the judge. There was sntendid attendance. A dance was held on. Saturday night at Waimata Valley. Wade’s supplied inspiriting music and Mr .1. Rogers was a capable M.C. The ladies’ committen was headed by Mrs J. Gil-™c-en and it did most excellent work. Th(* ball was decorated in. the Coronation colors. During the evening, the chairman (Mr J. Griffin) thanked the donors of the prizes the judge and other officials and also praised the work of the ladies’ grounds committee, headed by Mrs Kobiiwon. This was the first time that the Indies had been invited to assist- ana their canteen. made a profit of MO for the dub’s funds. Mr Griffin then introduced the judge (Mr Calcott) who said that the work of the dogs compared very favorably with that at other trials which he mid. judged. He commended several outstanding junior competitors, notably W. Newman, P. Tombleson and J. English. He also commended on the sheep that was provided by I’ukcakura station, remarking that they were a good strong lot which, had given the dogs a very severe test. The list of prize-winners was read out by Mr E. Robinson, the energetic secretary, who declared that the trials had been the most successful in the history of the district. The fact that the. trials had been so successful be attributed to the generosity of the settlers and the interest they had taken, in them. Results were :
