INSULT TO KING

PROPOSED CORONATION BOYCOTT. SQUASHED BY TRADES UNIONS V COUNCIL. 'British Official Wireless.) LONDON, Sept. S. Proposals for a march on London on ths eve of the opening of Parlia ment and a boycott of the Coronation in order to compel tho withdrawal of the means test regulations. were made by a South Wales delegate to she conference of tho Trades Union Council to-day. Sir Walter Citrine instantly advised the withdrawal of direct action to subvert tin- will or Parliament. He added that no one could allege that tho King interfered with legislation. Some unions, especially in South Wales, should be grateful for his interest on their behalf. In 1923. as Prince of Wales, he had sufcseribrd to their fund. The council should be reluctant to bring the King into polities. It was doubtful if their own people would support such a boycott, and they should remember the jubil;e, concluded Sir Walter. The suggestion lapsed.
