Fletcher that the Prime Minister should invite the Dominion Premiers to, a conference fur tfie purpose of framing a comprehensive British commonwealth foreign policy, the Home Secretary, Sir John Simon, said| the Imperial Conference in IL'37 would provide an oppoitum'ty for discussion. In the meantime, opportunity would always he taken to discuss foreign affairs when representatives of Dominions were in London . Lieut.-Cdmniander Fletcher insisted, that- a special effort was necessary to bring the policies of the British Dominions into line, in view of the grave discrepancies att present. Ho cited the attitude of South Africa ns an instance. Sir John Simon replied that the importance was fully ‘appreciated, but the practical difficulties' must- be borne in mind. Mr H. Day suggested that visits of British Ministers to the Dominions should be arranged with a. view to increasing the export trade-and relieving unemployment. Sir John Simon: “Ministers from Australia and Canada) are here now i and the others are coming in 1937 and the Marquis of Hartington is going to Australia and New Zealand.
