“A RIBALD SADIST”
ITALIAN TAUNT AT SELASSiE
DISGRACE THAT GENEVA LISTENED TO HIM! (U.P.A. by Elec. Tel. Copyright). ROME, July 2. “It is a disgrace that Geneva listened to Haile Selassie’s insult to Italy,” says Signer Gayda in a violent article in the Giornate d’ltalia, in which he stigmatises Haile Selassie as a “ribald sadist, who abandoned the capital to plunderers with an invitation to destroy, regardless ef white men or their friends.” Signor Gayda claims that the Italian march on Addis Ababa saved the white inhabitants, though the march was not covered by the Italian defence as was proved by an assault on an Italian column on May 13, which resulted in many. Italian soldiers being killed or wounded. Signer Gayda concludes that after Haile Selassie's speech, the generosity and haste of the Italian march must be regretted.
