An inspection of the schools in Apia controlled by the Government, was made by the Goodwill delegates who, after watching tho pupils work and play, complimented the teachers and said the methods adopted were an inspiration. Mr. Langstone remarked that, the smiling faces and healthy brown bodies of the children spoke' for themselves. He had never seen hotter disciplined youngster/;. Ifi ill school, built by the Germans and added to by New Zealand, eaters tor Europeans and those of mixed descent. The roil number has increased from 36 io 366 in 18 years. Further additions are necessary. The aim of the curriculum is to meet the needs of those who desire culture, which will .fit them to take their pln.ces in a European environment and to enable them to attend New Zealand -schools for further education. The infant, room has just been reorganised by Mrs. O. AT. Parr, of Ratana pa schoolin New Zealand, who is spending six months in Samoa on loan to the Education Department.

A pleasant surprise awaited the visitors at Malit'a school, where beautiful native songs were sung hv the choir which won the Blcdisloe Cuip. This school is attended by day pupils as well as by tbs sons of chiefs and orators, who remain in residence. Every endeavour is made to fit the latter to return more self reliant!v to their villages. Malifa is conducted by a very able headmaster (Air. Karenc) who is responsible for most of the teachers’ training in West Samoa.
