TE KARAKA NOTES. SCHOOL ACTIVITIES. (Special to the Times). Basketball and football teams from To Karaka secondary department jour neyed to Tolaga Bay on Saturday to play local school teams. Tri both (tames honours fell to To Karaka, the score for basketball being S—7, ana that for football 28—3. Residents are gratifi: cl to find that the Education Board has granted a good sum of money for improvements to the local school and residence, and that suitable conveyance is to be provided for children front the Kanakariuia road. PUIIA-W HATATCTU MATCHES. On Friday matches were played at Whatatutn between local school teams from Puha. The basketball resulted in ft win for AVhatatutu by 8 goals to 7. The football resulted:— Whatatutu 10, Puha 8. PERSONAL. Air. .and Airs. Roger Hutchinson, Waihuka, and -Mrs. Loisel, To lag a. Bay, were visitors on the Wnikohu golf links during the wo?k-end. Air. and Airs. L. B. Tullock’s son has severed his connection with the Aorangi and lias arrived home for a few days. To-day he will leave for Syd ncy where he has signed on as a cadet with the Australian-U.S. Navigation Company.
