Brophy added: “I went to tho Royal Park on an official mission. 1 was standing alone w‘th a revolver in my left hand, which became sweaty. Tho Federal Minister of Customs, Mr I'. \Y* White, who has been investigating tho reports of pearl pouching in Northern Australia, said that us a, result of his investigations a larger patrol boat would be built to protect North Queensland from poachers. In the meantime the Customs Department in Queensland had been instructed to charter a seaplane or a launch whenever necessary to apprehend a poaching sampan.
