MYSTERY WRECK
MAST BLOCKS FLOAT OUT TO SEA. ANOTHER HATCH FOUND. NOT BEEN IN WATER LONG. <Press Association). WAIPUKURAU, June to. The mast block found at Porangahau has disappeared. Apparently it has floated out to sea since Friday. Another hatch cover was found by a search party this morning. Apparently it had not been in the water long as the screws were not rusty, it is slightlyfi’Aaller than the others, being about Oft. by 18 inches. NOTHING .SEEN BY MATAI. (Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Juno ltt. No wreckage at sra in flic vicinity of Porangahau was sighted by the Government steamer Malai, which ai/rived from the East Coast iightliouhcs to-day. Captain Burgess, -master of Urn Matai, states that the vessel arriv'd at Castlepoint from Wellington a day after the distress rockets were seen. After leaving Castlepoint, he zigzagged the Matai along the coast ion about (iO miles searching the sea, particularly neai the bay of I’orangahau. but did noi sight wreckage or floating oil.
