LIFE. SAVING MOVEMENT The attention of all those interested 'in life-saving l is drawn to an advertisement appearing in this issue, notifying the holding of a meeting on Wednesday night at the Cosmopolitan Club to discuss the formation of classes in surf life saving work. The meeting is being called by the Gisborne Surf" and Swimming Club in an endeavour to find out the number likely to take ail interest m such classes.

Keen interest is being faken throughout New Zealand at the prosent time in surf life saving work, and its benefits need no enlarging upon. The apnearance of the Opotiki Surf Club to Gisborne a few months ago gave the public an idea of how spectacular besides how important the work can be, and it is to be hoped. that next seals on there will Ije several teams patrolling the Gisborne beaches.

Land, drill is an important part of the work and until a. team, is profioient in this it js useless going further. and in this connection provided sufficient interest is shown, it is hoped to cari’y out classes in the land drill during the winter months, which would mean that with the com mencement of summer an early start could be made op the water work. A special invitation iis given to ladies to he present at the meeting n® some of the most proficient teams in the Dominion to-day are those of ■die ladies.
