Through the enterprise of the Poverty Day Professional Athletic and Cycling Club, Gisborne sporting enthusiasts are to have an -opportunity of .seeing, 'two of Australia's crack track cyclists in action at an early date, on the club’s track on the Victoria Domain. The cyclists arc Joe Walsh and Len Rogers,, who will arrive in Gisborne in good time for a special carnival to bo held on Saturday next. Walsh is all-round track cycling cham p.ion. of Australia, and among his 'successes figure the five-mile championship.. of New South Wales for 1931-32-33. He was runner-up in the threcquartcr mile championship of Australasia, in 1931, the 100 miles Continental scratch race, 50 miles road championship in 1931, and 25 miles track championship of Australia for 1934., This season he has won the threequarter mile track champion ship of New South Wales and also the State three miles championship; and has won numerous other important races off the scratch mark.

In Leu Rogers, the touring team boasts the winner of the Australasian 25-mile 'championship race,, the .10mile New South Wales eliampopuship the 50-mi Id Queensland championship, the City of Sydney all-round sprint championship, and the holder of.the unpriced record for an hour’s ride, lie is regarded as easily the most consistent rider on Australian tracks, and as one of the greatest scratch race riders in the Southern Hemisphere. Among the many prominent riders who have been defeated by Y\ ah>h is the famous “Fatty” Lamb.

The two Australians have been racing before large crowds in the South island arid will make two appearances in the North Island, tat Levin and Gisborne respectively.
