New Zealand appears in Mussolini’s black list of countries whose coods are to be boycotted because ct the part taken by the Government in the enforcement of sanctions. The effect on New Zealand’s trade may be negligible, but, in any event, New Zealanders have a very effective reply. Hundreds of visitors Hum the Dominion include Italy in their tours every year- In future- they will he well advised to spend their money elsewhere. Even after Mussolini has completed his “civilising” mission in Abyssinia, and tlie last plane lias dropped the last homb on women and children, there will be some reluctance among Dominion visitors to -visit “the mother of civilisation.” An Italian newspaper recently claimed this title for Italy, but did not ex-, plain why she had so ruthlessly deserted her offspring by making war in defiance of her plighted word. — N.Z.
