Competing for the H.B. Herald Shield at Napier, Gisborno made a solid effort to retain the trophy, but eventually had to admit defeat, by 82 points to 58. Gisborne enjoyed especial success in tho field events, with G. Phillips performing particularly well in this department and also in the sprints. Results were as follows:
