(Tress Association.)
WELLINGTON; Dec. 14
In a statement to-day, the Hon. P. Fraser indicates that the grant of £20,000 from the consolidated fund as a Christmas bonus to recipients of outdoor relief definitely will be participated in by those who, in respect tothe week ending on December 14, have received relief of a regular character in kind —rations, fuel and rent—or in, cash, such relief being occasioned by old age, sickness, physical infirmity or other bodily or mental disabilities, widowhood or desertion, or the imprisonment of the
breadwinner. Mr. Fraser says that earnest and favorable consideration has been given by the Government to the provision of the Christmas bonus lor necessities for old-age pensioners, but it was found, unfortunately, that there were at present legal obstacles in the way that prevented this being done.
