AIQT.U NOTES fX'Ciu'X kH’jGM r EUCHRE TOURNAMENT AND DANCE (Special to the Times.) •>, r . •' A euchre Louirnuqent and dance in aid of the ;Labor Party was held : attlio Alotuhora Hall on Saturday night. There iw as only a moderate attendance. The euchre prizes were won by Miss Poreeen Bain and Mrs Dereeourt, and Messrs Arnold Thomas and E. Bain. The supper wa.s isuitpUed by the ladies, who each took a basket. Mrs Burbr.ougli played for the dancing, an<] Mr Burbrough . a'et'ecT as M.C. VAUDEVILLE ENTERTAINMENT An enjoyable concert was given at Motu on Monday night by Mr B. Hall and Company, who very generously donated 20 .per cent. of their takings to the Health Stamp Campaign. Mr Hall entertained with impersonations, stories, and recitations, and several enjoyable sketches, in which he was assisted by Alias R. Naylor. Miss Nay lor also danced several times, excelling in her toe and tap-dancing. Master J. Fitzgerald delighted with his singing of popular songs. Items also given by Messrs O’Doh’neU Bros, duets for stringed instruments . and songs. Mr. O’Donnell Was excellent as a magician. A short dance was later held. RAINFALL The rainfall for October, was 9.95 inches. Rain fell on 10 days, the :13th having the greatest fa 11—2.4-5 inches. GUILD MEETING The monthly meeting of St. Paul's Ladies’ Guild was held on Tuesday at Mrs G. S. Bridge’s home, those present- being Alesdames Bridge, Bovs, Pierre, Legge, Hutchins, Fisher, Read. Hargreaves, and Cameron The schedule for the Flower Show, which is to be held b- February, was drawn up, and materials for articles -for the wo-rk stall portioned out to members. A hearty vote of thanks .was extended to Mrs Bridge for the use of her home, and for the delicious afternoon tea served. PERSONALS Miss D. Murray,, Gisborne, was a week-end visitor to Miss W. Oarron. Mr and Mrs Pemberthy are visiting the South Island. Mr and Mrs Roy Ty'erman -'Tauranga) .and Mr Meade (Taurahga) are staying with Mr and Mrs T. Tyerinan. ' Mr C- Tait has returned to Alotuhora after spending a -few days with his parents at Te Karaka. Mr and Mrs F. Road, who were in Gisborne for the -Shoiv and races, have returned to Motu. PATUTAHI NOTES (Special to the Times.) Miss Hazel Ballard, who is to he married on Saturday to Mr W. I. Finn, of Tokomaru Bay, has this week been the guest of honor at. two parties. Mrs. H. Stubbs gave a delightfully arranged kitchen afternoon on Tuesday. "When opened, the numerous parcels revealed many useful gilts. The afternoon was spent in jolly games and competitions, the winners of which we?ft; .Mrs H. Ritchie and Mrs L. Baty. Mrs Stubbs received her guests wearing a graceful frock of maroon crepe marocain. The guest- of honor chose green crepe de chine cut on -smart slimming lines, and relieved with beige. Those present were: Mesdames Ballard, Chas. Cooper. A. Burgess, H. Ritchie. J. Robb, L. -Baty, D. Briggs delighted her listeners with a pianoforte solo alter a delicious afternoon tea had been -served Miss-Ballard opened her parcels, which proved to contain pi ettj and useful gifts for her future home. Mis Craill was frocked in green and white figured crepe de chine while her niece Miss C. Briggs; who assisted in the entertainment of the guests n ore a dress of brown and fawn printed georgette. The guest of honor chose green crepe delaine, M-imined with white accordion/pleated tolls, lheie present were: Mesdames Ballard 1. Craill. Mitchell, Barton, H. Stubbs, Sargent, H. Craill.
