PASTOR PASCOE AND PROPHECY.

(To the Editor). Sir,—Wo are 'warned in Scripture to “Beware of false prophets” and that in the latter days “perilous tithes shall come” “maiiyf shall follow their pernicious ways—through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you.” “They shall turn away their ears- from the truth.”. The present day seems to be well supplied with such prophets. AVe have had some who told us that fearful things would happen in 1934, but the year lias passed and only ordinary disasters have occurred. Their others have tokl us that 1936 would be the year of Armageddon amongst' whom are Mr. H. A. King, and a great advocate of Britisli-Israelism. There may bo war in 1936, but it cannot bo Armageddon, for • many prophecies must be fulfilled before that day, and amongst them is the Temple must be built in Jerusalem' and the Jewish worship established with the daily sacrifice ‘ before' the Man of Sin can compel them to cease, and then set up his image and compel them to worship it. That Man is not yet manifest. :

In youi- issue of October 29, Pastor Pascoe states: “The depression, with its attendant suffering lias brought about a dangerous mentality which becomes a fruitful soil for the agitator and the propagandist. Such conditions arc not conducive to sane reasoning.” Can be omit himself from his Seventh Day Adventist brethren who, within the last century have falsely prophesied on various occasions the very day that Christ would return ? It is only of recent yba'rs that we had an example of tlieir folly when they parted with all tlieir earthly possessions and awaited the hour of His appearing only to be sadly disappointed as He did not fulfil tlieir expectations. Then some of them tried to recover their given away possessions; others committed suicide ; while others lost tlieir reason Such is the effect of their pernicious teaching which produces a “dangerous mentality” and “is not conducive to sane reasoning.” Is their teaching any better to-day?

In the same issue he further states “That in Dan. 2 37-44: notwithstanding its brevity, sufficient detail was supplied to show the times in which we live and to give us (S.D.A.’s) the assurance that the world will never be ruled by a single dictator.” It seems clear that Pastor Pascoe follows the example of Satan in quoting a portion of Scripture and separating it from all that is written elsewhere. I would advise him to study the' record, and not forget that what “is written” should be compared with what “is written again” and that man (even S.D.A.’s) should live by “every word of God” and then he would not fall into the error of false prophecy. Jf lie would look into Dan 7 ho would see that 66 years after lie had interpreted the dream of chapter 2 1 , Daniel received a more curtailed explanation of that dreadful and terrible fourth kingdom, .which in no way contradicted chapter 2. I have not the least doubt that 66 years hence even Pastor Pascoe will have more enlightenment. In Dan. 7 24-25 it is made clear that “another (King) shall rise alter them ; and lie shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings, and he shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High and think to change times and laws, and they shall be given into bis hand.” Again; in Rev. 13 7-8 “And it was given unto biiii to make war with the saints, and to overcome them and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations, and all that dwell upon the earth shall worship birii whose names are not written in the Book of Lite.” If this man is not a dictator, will Pastor Pascoe fell us what is a dictator? This teaching is that of those who are “deceiving and being deceived.” AY ill he read 2 Thess. 2 11-12 3T.V. “And for this cause God sendctli them a working of error; that they should believe a lie: that they all might be judged who believe not the truth, but had. pleasure in unrighteousness.” I. would recommend Pastor Pascoe to remember what he had previously stated, “There is only one reliable service to which we can turn for enlightenment on this matter: that is the Word of God —we can trust its forecasts.” Then why corrupt its teaching by denying the truth? If lie will-compare that which “is-written” with what “is written again” and then abide by “every word of God” it will enable him to speak the Weird of God faithfully.—l am, yours etc., ANON.
