WAIHI, Nov. C
The question of the confirmation of the appointment of Dr. Archibald Jenkins as medical superintendent of the Waihi Hospital following the resignation of D r. L. R. ITetherington came before a special meeting, of the board to-day. . . Letters from the Minister of Health (Sir Alexander Young) and the Di-rector-General of Health, Dr Watt, were considered. The latter suggested that, before dealing finally with the board’s recent application for approval of the appointment of Dr. Jenkins, the matter, should be reconsidered by the hoard with a view.to determining whether it would not be possible to reinstate Dr. Hetherington as superintendent...
“It is considered,’’ continued Dr. Watt, “that unless the suggestion is given effect to, the hoard will, .continue to find itself faced with extreme difficulty in obtaining the medical and nursing assistance to enable the work of the hospital to bo properly carried out, whereas the difficulty would disappear if Dr. Hetherington resumed the duties.’’ • , , In committee, the board discussed the suggested .proposals of Dr. JiVatt w ith Dr. Hotlicrihgton, and , arrived at a certain decision.. The decision was not available to the press to-day, it being subject- to confirmation at- -a further meeting of' the hoard- next Tuesday. .
