MINISTER INDUCTED
ST. ANDREW'S CHARGE
WELCOME TO REAL A. J. DOW
Par;,- hioners of St. Andrew •#. Church gathered in large numbers for the induction of the Rev. A. J. H. Dow 8.A., 8.D., who replace l the Rev. Jas. Aitken, now en roure to reside in the Old Country. The formal induction of the new minister was conducted by the moderator of the Hawke’s Bay presbytery, the Rev. W. R. Hutch'nson, of Waipukurau, with whom were associated the Ree. D. J. A. Shaw, of Ha-.tings, and the Rev. Mr Kedgeley of Napier Suburhs. A-social evening was held later in fhe Sunday School Hall, ihe Rev. Shaw presiding. The chairman extended a warm welcome to Mr and Dlrs Dow and them two sons, also referring to the numerous message,’ of goodwill received in respect of the important occasion. He also assured Dir Dow that-he would find that Gisborne people h,n\l very warm hearts and could anticipate a very* happy time here. . Dlisr. Gladys DfcLatchie then presented a, bouquet to Dlrs Dow. The Rev. Hutchinson commented that Mr and Mrs Dow would find worthy scope iri this district and that it was especially pleas'.ng to see the charge so satisfactorily filled. Dir P. A. Clark, -on behalf of the session bf the church,-Dir 8. H. Phillips, for the. church , inanagment, thc Rev; H. Daniel, on behalf of rister churches, and the Rev. Davis (home missions) also extended a warm welcome to the new minister and his family. Mi- Dow, who then took the chair, stated that he would endeavour not to disappoint the expectation’- of the congregation. He and Dlrs Dow had been much moved by the call to the charge and the warmth of the welcome extended. The speaker referred to the great assistance given him in the past by.
